Our Story
The Waldegrave has always been here for the villagers of East Harptree. Built in the late 15th century, it's one of the oldest buildings in the village and a place that provided a meeting place and help for villagers in need.
600 years on, when its future became uncertain, the local community raised funds and sourced grants to buy the building. It officially became community-owned in 2024.
Now 'The Waldy' is more than just a pub. It's a place to get together for all kinds of groups and events and celebrations.
Right now, we're between tenants so we're standing in to keep The Waldy open while a long-term plan to run a sustainable business is underway.
That means keeping the doors open, the drinks flowing, and the atmosphere exactly what a village pub should be – welcoming and full of life.
We're learning as we go, building a business that pays its way and a pub the whole community can be proud of.
